Blue OG

Indica-dominant Blue OG takes its name from its heritage and flavour rather than its colour.  Bred from Blueberry F3, Blue Moonshine, and a Kush/Thai Indica hybrid, this strain is medicine you can enjoy without needing a spoonful of sugar to make it go down.

Now that we’ve given you a hint, you can probably guess what to expect from Blue OG, lots and lots of fruity blueberry goodness, with a hint of fresh lime and an undercut of fuel and skunk to counterbalance all that berry sweetness.  Overall, however, this strain is far more fruit than fuel or skunk.  The aroma is also sweet but here the deeper undernotes translate into earthiness.

At a time when so many growers seem to be vying to outdo each other in terms of the strength of their creations, particularly in terms of THC content, it’s pleasant to find a strain, which offers a gentler experience for those with milder conditions.  Although THC levels can, theoretically, reach up to 18%, realistically 13% is much more likely and it can even be lower.  CBD content is also fairly low.  Putting this all together means that Blue OG is a great strain for when you need to get moving and grooving and want to come to life quickly but gently.  Likewise, it’s also a good choice for those who want a quick shot of pain relief without needing a huge amount of strength.  The low level of THC means that the Sativa buzz is followed by a warm, comfortable feeling rather than a deep, full-body stone.  This means that although Blue OG is often held to be a daytime strain, it can also be helpful for treating mild insomnia.  It’s also often recommended as a treatment for nausea, which can make it very helpful for dealing with menstrual issues.

Growers, particularly amateur ones, will be happy to know that Blue OG combines a short stature with big buds and plenty of resin.  It’s not a fussy strain and can be grown in as little as 8 weeks, although waiting an extra week or even two can really pay dividends with the yield.
