Cataract Kush

Cataract Kush gets its name because such is its potency, that it may make your eyes go a bit wonky when you smoke – but don’t panic, the effect is only temporary. This weed is Indica dominant, a cross between the OG Kush and LA Confidential strains. LA Confidential won second place in the Indica section of the 2005 High Times Cannabis Cup and third place in the same competition in 2004. OG Kush is a well-respected strain from California that’s provided the genetics of many modern cannabis hybrids.

The aroma combines pungent hash with a slightly sour fruit aroma. The taste includes notes of exotic spices, sandalwood and sweet herbs. This is a very potent smoke with a somewhat creeping tendency and you should be prepared for a period of couchlock unless you are an especially hardened toker. Medically, this cannabis can help with poor appetite, muscular pain and insomnia.

The seeds grow into squat, bushy plants with broad leaves that are dark green with a purplish tint. The plants produce a multitude of medium-sized buds that are tight and covered in a silvery layer of crystals. THC level ranges from 15 percent upwards.

Indoors, you can grow it in hydro or soil and the plants benefit from topping and low stress training to maximise yields. Flowering time is eight to nine weeks and yields vary from 350 to 500 grams per square metre depending on growing conditions.

The Cataract Kush strain is tolerant of lower temperatures so it’s a good choice for gardeners who want to grow outdoors in the cooler temperate climates of places like the Netherlands and the UK. Pick a sunny spot with shelter and your plants should be ready for harvest by early October.

Ease of growth means that this Cataract Kush review recommends it for novice as well as experienced cultivators. Novice smokers on the other hand should exercise some caution – Cataract Kush truly packs a punch.
