Jack the Ripper marijuana is a Sativa dominant weed that’s the product of crossing two other Sativa dominant strains, Jack’s Cleaner and Space Queen. The original Jack the Ripper was a serial killer who preyed on prostitutes in Victorian London. Some commentators have speculated that if only this weed had a gentler name, it would have taken awards in the High Times Cannabis Cup. It has achieved some recognition, since it appeared in the 2006 Top 10 Strains of the Year in High Times magazine.
The Jack the Ripper strain has an earthy, skunky smell with an undertone of pine. The flavor has strong notes of lemon citrus and exotic spices. The high combines a strong body stone with pronounced cerebral effects to produce a well-balanced high lasting for up to two hours. Medically, this weed can be used to help with muscular pain and poor appetite.
The plants are bushy and grow to a medium height. The pointed buds have a covering of orange hairs growing through a silvery layer of sticky crystals. Lab measurements of the THC level have varied from 11.1 to 15.6 percent.
Jack the Ripper weed grows well indoors in either hydro or soil and the flowering time is from eight to nine weeks. Yields are in the medium range.
You can grow this robust strain outdoors in northern European countries. Be sure to choose a sunny, sheltered spot when you plant out your seedlings after the last risk of frost has passed.
Jack the Ripper marijuana is not one of the highest yielders by any means, but what it lacks in quantity is more than compensated for by its quality. This weed’s complex bouquet and flavor combined with its well-balanced high make the strain a favorite with connoisseurs of good weed.
