pineapple-chunk-strainSativa dominant Pineapple Chunk is a strain which packs in plenty of THC (about 20%) and a reasonable amount of CBD (1 to 5%).  It’s a great-tasting way to provide fast-acting pain relief and to provide a quick and effective boost to low spirits.

In spite of the name, Pineapple Chunk is actually a cheese strain first and foremost with plenty of skunk to back it up.  The secondary flavour, however, is of pineapple, so all in all, savouring this strain is rather like enjoying a cocktail stick at a party.  The smell is rather like that too, think of walking into a kitchen where macaroni cheese is cooking and add extra pineapple.

Even though Pineapple Chunk is essentially an Indica, the high THC content makes it behave more like a traditional Sativa and for medical purposes, it’s best thought of that way.  As such, it’s great for treating pain, depression and stress.  It can also be good for stimulating appetite.  Pineapple Chunk is, however, probably best avoided if your problem is insomnia.  The reason for this is that although it delivers the pain-relief you may need to have any chance of sleep, this often comes along with a rush of creative energy with only minimal CBD to anchor it.  As such, Pineapple Chunk can be a great choice for people who need to “wake and bake” in the daytime or who are flagging at work, but there are far better “insomnia strains” available.

Pineapple Chunk is a great choice for amateur growers.  It stays nicely compact, coming in at around the metre mark and is known for being both robust and stable.  Basically as long as you pay attention to your growing fundamentals (food, water, light, ventilation), you should be able to achieve a more than decent yield with this strain and the best growers can look at yields in the region of 600 gm per m2, which is particularly impressive given that Pineapple Chunk only needs 7 to 8 weeks to flower indoors.  Outdoors, the harvest is around the middle of September, which means that growers in most climates have a decent chance of collecting their buds before the autumn frosts arrive.  One of the great benefits about this strain is the fact that it’s known for being very resilient to both diseases and mould.  For the record, you still need to be conscientious about adhering to proper growing practices (like spacing the plants out properly), but with Pineapple Chunk, the odds are certainly on your side.  Growers should, however, pay attention to odour control, both indoors and out, assuming they wish to stay on good terms with their neighbours.
