sunset-sherbet-marijuana-strainSunset Sherbet by MSNL is a cross between Girl Scout Cookies, indisputably one of the most popular strains in the world, and Pink Panties, which is relatively unknown but is believed to have been bred from the more famous Blackberry Kush.

With an average of 20% THC, Sunset Sherbet is a good choice when you want pain relief without a super-strength high.  It’s also a good choice for relieving mental and emotional conditions since it delivers a refreshing, upbeat and motivating head buzz which gradually slows down to the point where it becomes a soothing and relaxing full-body stone.  As its name suggests, Sunset Sherbet is a great evening strain, which is often recommended for the treatment of insomnia and headaches, it can also be used for conditions such as stress, depression and anxiety.

The flavour of this strain is a real taste explosion.  Sunset Sherbet is just fizzing over with fruity, berry sweetness, balanced with citrus and mint, basically like an exotic (and delicious) fruit salad.  This strain is not, however, a flyaway lightweight.  There are Kush genetics on both sides, so the fresh-fruit sweetness is underpinned by a robust, spicy body and there’s a touch of earthy pungency to round off the flavour.  The aroma is dominated by the fruit notes, but the Kush spiciness is still there in the background.

It has to be said that Sunset Sherbet isn’t the highest-yielding strain out there.  Indoors you can expect up to 250g/m2 after about 8 weeks of flowering and outdoors you can collect up to 300g per plant about the end of September.  On the plus side, this strain is very straightforward to grow.

Sunset Sherbet is very much Indica dominant (85%) so it stays on the compact side and you can expect it to grow to a height of about 1.2M to 1.4M.  It will be perfectly happy either indoors or outdoors and if you are growing outdoors, the fact that it has the classic Indica “Christmas tree” shape does help it to stand up to stronger winds, although you will still want to place it in as sheltered a location as you can find.  Interestingly, for all the complex taste and aroma of its cured bud, during the flowing stage, Sunset Sherbet smells very clearly of mint so you may want to think about how your neighbours will feel about that when considering where to site it.  Overall, this strain is a feasible choice for beginners and people moving on from autoflowering strains.
