Candyland by Grand Daddy Purp is a Sativa-dominant cross between Bay Platinum Cookies and Grand Daddy Purps.  Given its parentage and the fact that it was created by Ken Estes, it was inevitably going to be compared to its illustrious ancestor.  Fortunately, it stands up very well to the comparison.  In fact, it was the top Sativa in the 2012 KushCon Cup.

The average THC content is in the region of 14% to 19%.  There is also about 0.35% CBD.  This makes Candyland a “middle-of-the-road” strain in all the right ways.  In other words, it has enough power to treat a wide range of moderate conditions without being overpowering.  The high is light, motivating and happy rather than being a massive rush of euphoria.  It is followed by a deeply relaxing body stone.  This leaves you too comfortable to want to get up rather than pinned to your couch.  Another bonus of the moderate potency is that it is enough to stimulate your appetite without leaving you wanting to eat non-stop for hours.  All of this means that Candyland is a really flexible strain.  It can be used during the day or at night.  As always, however, make sure that you are fully recovered before doing anything complicated, such as driving.

Even though the Candyland strain is 75% Sativa it stays fairly compact.  Indoors, plants are likely to have an average height of about 1.5M and outdoors they may grow up to 2M or thereabouts.  It is also fairly speedy.  The indoor flowering time is about 8 to 9 weeks and the outdoor harvest is in early October.

Yields are very impressive, presumably thanks to grandparent Big Bud.  Indoor growers can expect up to 800g/m2 and outdoor growers up to 900g per plant.  Candyland will almost certainly need some support during the flowering period, especially at the end when the sheer weight of the bud can be too much for its slender frame and lead to branches snapping unless they are propped up.  Otherwise, Candyland is a very easy grow.  It has good resilience to mould, diseases and pests.

The buds themselves are a mixture of soft green and bright green tones.  The hairs are more dark gold than orange and there is enough THC to give them a frosty glitter.

In terms of taste and aroma, the Candyland strain has the berry sweetness of Grand Daddy Purple together with the musky, earthy sweetness of Bay Platinum Cookies.  Some phenos have a very light hint of chemical or fuel to them.
