Mokum’s Tulip is a balanced hybrid cross between Gelato and Sherbet.  Unusually, the name of this strain references its geographical origins rather than its parentage.  Mokum is the Yiddish word for Amsterdam.  Amsterdam is, of course, famous for its tulips.  What’s more, Dutch Passion felt that this strain had a fragrance which reminded them of tulips.

Although Mokum’s Tulip is 50% Indica, it has average THC of 22% and moderate CBD.  This makes it a superb all-round strain.  There’s enough THC to bring meaningful pain relief to an extensive range of physical conditions.  There’s also enough THC to deal with many emotional conditions.  The high balances Sativa brightness with Indica mellowness.  It is euphoric and energizing, but also chilled.  This then transitions into a light but very relaxing body buzz.  Basically, it’s like having a refreshing “power nap”.

Indoors Mokum’s Tulip will require around 8 weeks of flowering time and outdoors it will be ready around the beginning of October.  Mokum’s Tulip can grow tall.  In fact, it can reach 2M indoors.  Outdoors it can reach 2.5M (or even more) if growing conditions are really good.

On the plus side, yields are very generous.  Indoor growers can expect in the region of 550g/m2.  In fact, the most experienced growers could feasibly push this up to 650g/m2.  Outdoor growers can collect over 1.2Kg per plant.

As an added bonus, these plants can be really beautiful to look at.  The buds are a soft green, with bright orange hairs and frosty trichomes.  The leaves, however, become an abundance of colour, especially blue, purple and orange.

Overall, Mokum’s Tulip is fairly easy to grow.  It certainly has good resistance to mould, diseases and pests.  On the other hand, its height means that it does need a bit of tender, loving care.  If you want to grow outdoors, you’ll need to choose your location carefully.  This strain will need to be protected from wind and rain up until the start of October.  It is also likely to need extra feeding, especially if you want the biggest possible harvest.  Indoors you will probably need to train your plants.  Even if you have plenty of space, you will need to make sure that the light can reach all the branches.

In terms of flavour and aroma, Mokum’s Tulip is a strain for people with a sweet tooth.  It’s very much candy and fruit.  There are, however, musky undertones typical of strains descended from Girl Scout Cookies.  Honestly, there was nothing which reminded us of tulips.  On the other hand, we’re hardly experts on flowers.  We can tell you that Mokum’s Tulip has beautifully smooth smoke.  If you’re prone to coughing when you medicate, this could be the strain for you.
