Gorilla Candy
Indica dominant Gorilla Candy is a cross between the super-famous Gorilla Glue #4 and the rather less famous Papa’s Candy. Basically, this is a strain for anyone who wants a big yield and is prepared to put in a bit of work to get it.
Even though Gorilla Candy is 75% Indica, it has average THC of 18.5% to 23% and low CBD. The initial effect is one of happiness, even euphoria and this gradually mellows into a feeling of happy relaxation. Overall, therefore, Gorilla Candy is better suited to use in the daytime rather than the evening, although you could probably use this in the early evening and still expect to get to sleep at night. As always, leave plenty of time to refocus before doing anything complicated, especially driving.
Indoors, Gorilla Candy will flower in 7 to 8 weeks and outdoors it will be ready around the middle to end of October. The indoor height range is about 0.8M to 1M but outdoors it can grow to 2M to 3M depending on exactly how long it has to mature. Indoor yields can be up to 600g/m2 and outdoor yields up to 2Kg per plant. In addition to the main yield of bud, you will definitely want to hold on to the trim from this strain as it is full of resin and ideal for making cannabis concentrates.
We’ve classed Gorilla Candy as being moderately difficult to grow because it’s a large, photoperiod strain and as such is going to need a bit of hands-on management. To begin with, it grows in the classic Indica “Christmas-tree shape”, which means that you need to remember to leave plenty of space for it to grow outwards as well as upwards. Remember that if your airflow is compromised, you could lose your entire harvest to mould or an attack of disease or pests, which would be both heartbreaking and ironic as this strain is generally pretty robust.
Additionally, Gorilla Candy has very wide leaves, which means that there’s a distinct possibility you’re going to need to get to grips with trimming to make sure that the light gets into the whole plant rather than being blocked by the leaves. Last, but by no means least, you’re going to need to be ready to deal with a hearty appetite for food and nutrients, but not kill your plants with kindness by overdoing it.
In terms of flavour and aroma, Gorilla Candy balances candy sweetness with spiciness and hints of coffee for a refreshing edge.
