Gorilla – Dinafem
Indica dominant (60/40) Gorilla by Dinafem is their take on the ever-popular Gorilla Glue #4. It has exactly the same trio of parent strains, namely Chocolate Diesel, Chem Sister and Sour Dubb. But the genetic balance is slightly different. Gorilla offers much the same benefits as Gorilla Glue #4, namely great taste, great THC and great robustness.
As you would expect, Gorilla has a powerful 25% THC for some serious pain relief. It also offers a quality high which combines the focus and clarity you expect from Sativas, with the mellow calm you expect from Indicas. Speaking of Indica genetics, you also get a fairly solid 1% CBD. This mean that your high will gently transition into a deep, blissfully-relaxing, full-body stone. Gorilla is probably best kept for use at night. But if you do want to use it in the day, please allow plenty of recovery time before doing anything complicated.
Gorilla will grow indoors and outdoors in a warm, dry, sunny climate. If you have the option to grow outdoors or indoors, then outdoor growing is well worth considering. It it will allow you to let Gorilla stretch up to its full height of about 3 metres, which will give you the biggest harvests. Indoors, Gorilla will tend to stay closer to the 2 metre mark, although it can be kept shorter with plant training. Indoor growers can expect up to 500g/m2 after 8 to 9 weeks of flowering. Outdoor growers can collect up to 1Kg per plant around the middle of October.
There are a couple of reasons why Gorilla has been classed as moderately difficult. The first is because it’s a photoperiod strain, which means that indoor growers will need to manage light cycles. The second is because it is a tall, quick growing, plant. Which means that indoors or outdoors, you will need to be prepared to feed a very hearty appetite. You’ll also need to ensure that Gorilla has enough space to stretch outwards, as well as upwards, without impeding good air flow. Indoor growers may also need to get to grips with plant training, which isn’t difficult but can get sticky. On the plus side, Gorilla is packed full of solid genetics and so if very robust and vigorous.
Gorilla keeps the same great taste of Gorilla Glue, which famously tastes like coffee, enhanced with deep notes of earth, skunk and fuel and top notes of pine. The aroma is surprisingly fruity, with notes of spice, especially sandalwood and a refreshing hit of menthol pine.
