Purple Bud – White Label
Purple Bud (Automatic) is bit of a melting pot of genetics, its lineage involves an Afghani Indica and Jamaican Sativa cross, plus Hindu Kush plus Purple Kush. It is relatively slow-growing for an autoflowering strain, but it makes up for this with excellent yields of high-quality, great-tasting marijuana.
With 18% to 20% THC, Purple Bud is strong enough to deliver fast and effective pain relief. It’s also strong enough to pull you out of blue moods and into pinker ones. Even though its genetics are very much Indica dominant, there is enough Sativa in there to lighten the high and make it a bit more cerebral and euphoric. Rather than the mellow head buzz typical of high-THC Indicas. The initial high mellows into a deep full-body buzz, which eases away any remaining physical tension as it relaxes the mind.
Purple Bud is certainly not the quickest of autoflowering strains out there. It needs a full 13 to 14 weeks from seed to harvest, of which the last 8 to 10 weeks are devoted to flowering. In other words, it has the same sort of grow-time as many photoperiod strains. Unlike photoperiod strains, it does not have a dedicated harvest time. It does, however, need to be kept warm and dry, making it an ideal summer grow. The height of Purple Bud is also in line with expectations for more compact photoperiod strains. You’re looking at a growing range of 90 cm (indoor minimum) to 1.4 m (outdoor maximum). Yields are also comparable with photoperiod strains. Indoor growers can expect up to 500g/m2 and outdoor growers up to 800g per seed.
This strain is well suited to beginners since it has a very high percentage of landrace genetics and easy autoflowering genetics too. These make for a very robust strain. In fact, all you really need to do to ensure a successful grow is pay attention to your marijuana basics. Be prepared to give the branches some support later on in flowering. You don’t need to worry about adjusting temperatures to get that highly-coveted purple hue. The colour change is caused by genetics rather than being triggered as a reaction to cold.
The taste of Purple Bud is full of fruity sweetness, berries and grapes to be precise. With a touch of lavender and a hint of pine freshness. Interestingly, the Kush parentage doesn’t make itself noticed in the flavour. But it certainly does in the aroma, with is a blend of fruits, herbs including lavender and kush spices.
