Blue Moonshine

Indica dominant Blue Moonshine is a cross between Blueberry and another strain which the breeders have never publically identified. Its Blueberry roots certainly give it a proud heritage because that strain was overall winner of the High Times Cannabis Cup in 2000, just one of three prizes it has won in weed world’s premier competition.

The Blue Moonshine strain has a pervading odour that’s reminiscent of skunk and hash while the flavor includes fruity notes. The high starts off quite giggly and euphoric but this quickly translates into a heavily narcotic stone, often leading to a period of couchlock. In medical use, this weed is recommended for stimulating appetite and for helping with sleep problems.

Blue Moonshine weed grows quite short, up to about 80 centimetres. The plant starts off a mid green but darkens as it matures and begins to display blue and purplish hues. Buds are dense and sticky and THC content has been measured at 13.5 percent.

Indoors, Blue Moonshine’s squat, bushy growing tendency makes the SOG growing method a good choice. As the plants grow with quite thick foliage, you need to ensure that they are well ventilated to avoid the onset of mould. Flowering time is seven to eight weeks and yields are in the medium range.

Outdoors, you’ll need to cultivate this strain somewhere with a Mediterranean climate or warmer. Harvest comes at the beginning of October in the northern hemisphere.

If you like ‘blue’ types of weed, then Blue Moonshine is well worth considering. Its diminutive size also makes it a good choice if growing space is limited.
