Strawberry Diesel

Strawberry Diesel, which also goes by the name of Strawberry D-Lite, is a Sativa dominant weed that’s the result of a marriage between two other Sativa strains, NYC Diesel and Strawberry Cough. High Times magazine picked Strawberry Cough as one of its strains of the year in 2005, while NYC Diesel has won five awards in the High Times Cannabis Cup, including two second places overall in 2002 and 2003.

The Strawberry Diesel strain has a skunky aroma with undertones of ripe fruit while the flavor includes tones of citrus and sweet strawberries. The high starts off as a soaring euphoria which mellows into a relaxed body stone. Medical practitioners recommend this weed for poor appetite, stress and muscular pain.

Strawberry Diesel seeds produce plants that grow to between 75 and 100 centimetres indoors although they may stretch much taller outdoors. The leaves are thin-fingered and pale green while the buds are dense and covered in silvery crystals and orange hairs. THC levels have been measured in the lab at as high as 20.2 percent

Indoors, Strawberry Diesel is a vigorous grower and you can expect to see many side stems which can be trimmed to keep the plant in bounds. The plants can be prone to mould and pest infestation, so it pays to keep a close eye on them. Remove pests by hand if they appear and prune out any leaves that show signs of yellowing. Flowering time is eight weeks and you can expect harvests of between 350 and 375 grams per square metre.

To grow the Strawberry Diesel strain outdoors, you’ll need to cultivate it somewhere with a climate akin to the Mediterranean. Harvest in the northern hemisphere comes in October.

Strawberry Diesel is a strain that needs close attention during the growing phase, so it’s probably best for people with some gardening experience. If you have the patience and application to grow this strain, you’ll be rewarded by a quality crop with a delicious, fruity flavor and high potency.
