Strawberry D-lite
There are plenty of fruit-flavoured marijuana strains out there, with lemon and blueberry leading the way, but strawberry seems to be rather under-represented. Strawberry D-lite by Sagamartha Seeds is therefore a rather unusual offering.
In terms of taste, it’s not all sweetness and light. While it’s true that strawberry is very much the dominant flavour and overall this strain is definitely more sweet than sour, the baseline is old-fashioned Diesel, which is why Strawberry D-lite is often called Strawberry Diesel or Strawberry Sour Diesel. The diesel element is definitely much more evident in the taste than in the scent. The aroma is pretty much strawberry all the way.
Genetically, Strawberry D-lite is a balanced hybrid, created by crossing established favourite NYC Diesel with Strawberry Cough. One point which is important to note is that although the taste of Strawberry D-lite is consistent, its THC levels are rather less so and can vary from about 12% to about 19%, which means that although it can always be classed as moderate, it can be on the low side of moderate or on the high side of moderate depending on how your particular grow turns out. In terms of effect, you will get a euphoric, sociable lift, followed by a feeling of comfortable relaxation, not so much couch lock as a general feeling that it’s far better just to snuggle up where you are. As you’ve probably guessed, Strawberry D-lite is nowhere remotely close to being the strongest medical strain on the block, but it can do a decent job of dealing with everyday aches and pains, so, for example, we might use it for tension headaches, but we wouldn’t want to have to rely on it for full-on migraines. The fact that Strawberry D-lite is a very mild strain means that you can use it at any time of day although obviously you still don’t want to be under its influence when you’re doing anything complicated like driving.
When it comes to growing, the good news is that Strawberry Diesel is quick and about as simple as you can get for a photoperiod strain. As an added bonus, the end-September harvest time means that Strawberry D-lite could be a feasible outdoor grow in most of Europe. The bad news is that the yield of 350-375 gr/m2 is really low by modern standards and even modern autoflowering strains can often do better. Basically, the only strong argument for growing Strawberry D-Light is that you love the taste because by any other standard, there are plenty of better options out there.
