Hulkberry – Royal Queen Seeds
Hulkberry is no relation whatsoever to Incredible Bulk, but it is from the same genetic background as Bruce Banner, specifically OG Kush and Strawberry Diesel.
With 27% THC, Hulkberry really does have what it take to grind pain into the dust and pull you out of deeply negative emotional states. For all its mighty THC muscle, this strain is actually only just Sativa dominant (about 65%). The 35% Indica genetics make the initial high a bit smoother and less massively energetic than you might expect given the THC level and also provides a comforting body buzz to finish. Overall, we’d say this strain was best for daytime use, but do remember to allow yourself time to come completely out of the light stone before doing anything complicated.
Hulkberry has an indoor flowering time of 9 to 10 weeks and an outdoor harvest period of late September. This strain definitely prefers a warm, dry, climate so outdoor growers to the northern end of continental Europe will need to think carefully about where they site their plants. Growers who live even further north will probably want to treat this as an indoor strain.
Indoors, Hulkberry tends to stay on the shorter side, having an average height range of between 0.8M and 1.4M, which is actually more in line with photoperiod Indicas than with Sativas. Outdoors it can stretch a bit higher as you would expect. Remember that as the plants grow and mature, so will their odour, so be prepared for this.
Yield will depend partly on the size of the plant (bigger plants have more bud space) and partly on the grower’s skill. As a guideline, we’d say about 400/450g/m2 indoors and 650/700g/per plant outdoors. If you know your way around either sea of green or screen of green, then you can achieve some bumper harvests.
We’ve classed Hulkberry as moderately difficult to grow because it’s a photoperiod strain. Otherwise, it’s perfectly reasonable to handle, with the robust OG Kush genetics.
In terms of flavour and aroma, top notes are full of fruit and berries, especially strawberry. But once you get past this, you’ll soon pick up the edge of fuel and a light hint of citrus.
