Grape Gum – Ripper Seeds
The grape in Grape Gum has nothing to do with grapes as in the fruit with which you make wine, it’s a reference to the fact that the parents of this strain are Grapefruit and Bubble Gum. It’s full of freshness both in taste and effect and is reasonably simple grow.
Your initial impression of Grape Gum will be that it is full of citrus freshness, once this mellows, you’ll pick up candy sweetness and earth robustness. The aroma is rather like a lemony dessert but with added earthiness.
With 18% THC, Grape Gum hits the sweet spot nicely when it comes to dealing with physical pain and mental issues. It has enough strength to get the job done, but still keeps a gentle touch. As it’s mostly Sativa (60%), it stays on the lighter side, but there’s enough in the way of Indica genetics to make themselves felt, literally, in the form of a very comforting and relaxing body buzz, which will leave you feeling soothed and caressed rather than couchlocked. This means that Grape Gum is a great choice for those who want an “all-round” strain which can basically be used any time of day or night. It won’t leave you knocked out in the daytime and it won’t leave you buzzing with energy at night and while there are better strains out there for dealing with insomnia specifically, Grape Gum isn’t a bad option if you just want something to relieve pain and/or clear your mind so you can get some sleep.
Grape Gum will generally grow to a height of between 1M (indoor minimum) and 2M (outdoor maximum). Having said that, its rather branchy structure means it is very suitable for plant training if you need to keep its height down. By contrast, if you do have space available, Grape Gum will happily make the most of it and reward you with extra bud.
In principle, Grape Gum can be grown indoors or outdoors, although in practice, outdoor growers will need to live in a warm, dry climate to have a successful grow. Greenhouse growing may be an option for those further north. Indoors it needs about 9 to 10 weeks of flowering and outdoors the harvest time is about early October. Indoors, yield will be up to 450g/m2 and outdoors up to 900g per plant.
Overall, this is a nice, robust strain the average beginner should be able to manage.
