Big Bud
Review
Big Bud does what it says on the tin – it produces a profusion of dense, oversized buds. Originally an Indica crossed with Skunk #1, it reached Holland as a clone where it was refined and cultivated. The Big Bud strain really burst onto the scene when it won the Indica section of the second High Times Cannabis Cup in 1989.
Smoking it gives a skunky flavor with tones of musky earth, while the aroma is best described as sweet and hash-like. This weed gives an intense, long-lasting body stone. Medically, Big Bud can help with muscle pain, nausea and sleep problems.
Big Bud is a bushy plant, growing to around 80 to 150 centimeters tall, with minimal leaf growth and large, heavy buds set on thickish stems. The buds are light green with a frosting of THC crystals and fine hairs with an orange hue. The THC level varies from eight to 15 percent, weaker than some skunk types but still powerful.
Big Bud seeds are best grown indoors where the plant is well-suited to the SOG method with hydroponics and can produce up to 650 grams per square meter, really living up to its name. Flowering time is around nine weeks, but has been reported to be as little as 50 days.
Outdoor growing is possible if you live somewhere with warm, sunny summers, but you may need to support the plants’ lower stems due to the weight of the buds. The plant is ready for harvest by late October.
Growers choose the Big Bud strains for its high yields and it’s dependably strong and lengthy stone. The Big Bud seeds are relatively easy to grow and its bushy habits make it ideal for indoor cultivation.
