Early Queen
Review
The Early Queen strain was developed by the Mr Nice Seedbank in the Netherlands back in the early 1990s by crossbreeding three old school strains; Early Girl, Early Pearl, and Super Skunk. The weed produced is a delightful strain that’s evenly balanced between Indica and Sativa.
The Super Skunk in this weed means it has an earthy, hashy smell but the other strains come through in the flavour which has notes of citrus and spring blossoms. This is one of those weeds that’s likely to give you a fit of the giggles after the first hit, but then calms down a bit so you’ll feel relaxed, although not too heavily sedated. Medical practitioners recommend the Early Queen strain to treat poor appetite and stress.
Early Queen seeds produce bushy plants that grow to a height of between 50 and 80 centimetres. Leaves are mid-green and the buds are large and round with a covering of silvery crystals and yellow hairs. The plants have a tendency to produce one large central cola. THC content ranges from 15 to 18 percent.
The Early Queen strain is quite hardy and can be grown outdoors in colder northern countries like the Netherlands and the UK. It also has good mold resistance meaning the plants can tolerate damp weather. They’ll do well in a sheltered spot that gets as much sunlight as possible. Indoors, this strain is happy in hydro or soil with a SOG set up. Flowering time is from six to eight weeks and outdoor harvest in the northern hemisphere comes in mid-September. Yields are around 500 to 550 grams per square metre indoors and 500 grams per plant outdoors.
Early Queen seeds are a great choice for growers who live in cooler, wetter countries but still like to cultivate outdoors. Even in those conditions, this strain is an early finisher. It offers a well balanced hit, not overwhelming but thoroughly pleasurable.
