Purple Candy
Review
Canadian growers Smoke-A-Lot created Purple Candy by first crossing Purple Wreck with OG Kush and then crossing the resulting plant with Godzilla Grape. Ignore websites that claim BC Bud Depot created it strain by crossing The Purps and Sweet Tooth – staff at BC Bud Depot have said this is untrue. This is Indica dominant weed that has some clear Sativa characteristics as well.
Purple Candy weed has a sweet smell and the taste is reminiscent of tropical fruits with lemon undertones. The high mixes a pleasurable body hit with a stimulating cerebral high which can last for up to two hours. Medical practitioners recommend it for poor appetite and muscular pain relief.
The plants grow to about one metre tall with dark green leaves. The buds are medium sized and as they mature they increasingly display a purple colour, especially towards the tips of the buds which are also covered in white crystals. THC content is high.
Purple Candy weed can be grown outdoors in northern Europe as long as you avoid frosts and find a sunny spot that’s sheltered from wind. Indoors, the SOG growing method is a good choice for this strain. Flowering is from eight to nine weeks and yields are on the moderate side. Outdoors, the plants are ready for harvest in early October.
The Purple Candy strain is not the most prolific of croppers, but it does produce a quality weed that finely balances Indica and Sativa qualities in its hit. Its ease of growth means it’s suitable for novice gardeners.
