True OG Weed
Review
True OG weed’s origins are in the green hills of Topango Canyon, an area well-known for its artists and alternative culture just to the west of Los Angeles. This weed is an Indica dominant strain and although its precise background is unclear it contains Indica genetics from the Hindu Kush mountain range that runs from central Afghanistan to northern Pakistan. It proved its pedigree by taking second place in the Indica section at the 2010 High Times Medical Cannabis Cup in San Francisco.
True OG weed has a powerful and instantly recognisable skunky smell with quite pungent notes of citrus. The flavor is much the same although you’ll also detect exotic spices and a hint of fuel. The typically Indica high is soaring and quick-acting and often results in couchlock. Novice smokers should treat this weed with caution to avoid being overwhelmed by its potent effects. Medical practitioners recommend it to help with muscular pain, insomnia and poor appetite.
The True OG strain produces plants of a medium height with a high bud to leaf ratio. The roundish buds are large and dense and display bunches of orange to brown hairs as well as a sticky layer of crystals. THC levels have been measured at between 16 and a whopping 22 percent.
Indoors, these plants thrive in hydro or soil and flowering time is eight to nine weeks. Carefully grown plants can yield as much as 500 grams per square metre.
For outdoor growing, a climate at least as warm and sunny as the Mediterranean is required and harvest comes in mid-October in the northern hemisphere.
Much favoured by California’s medical cannabis community, the True OG strain is a powerful weed in the classic Kush tradition. Seasoned smokers will appreciate the very strong high that this weed induces.
