Tangie – DNA Genetics
Tangie is a mouth-watering cross between California Orange and Skunk No.1. This strain isn’t just about the taste though, it has excellent medical credentials.
With about 70% Sativa genetics, Tangie has an average THC level in the range of 19% to 22%, along with about 0.1% CBD. It’s very popular as a “wake and bake” strain and it’s easy to see why. You start off with a fresh and light Sativa high, which acts like a tonic for body and mind. It’ll perk you up and make you feel like you’re ready to face anything. Then, the high transitions into a light, but supremely comfortable full-body stone. Basically it’s a “power nap”, which recharges your batteries and leaves you great to go!
Although Tangie is generally treated as a daytime strain, we think it would be possible to use it in the evening, thanks to the CBD content. Basically, if you were looking specifically for a strain to use mainly at night, you’d probably want to look elsewhere. On the other hand, if you want a strain mainly for daytime use, but with the option to use it in the evening if you need to, then Tangie could be a good choice.
In principle, Tangie can be grown indoors or outdoors, but the fact that one of its parents is California Orange should give you an idea of the sort of climate it needs to thrive. Indoors it has a flowering time of 9 to 10 weeks and outdoors it will be ready in late September or early October.
Even though Tangie is a Sativa-dominant, it stays fairly compact. The growing range is about 1.2M (indoor minimum) to about 1.8M (outdoor maximum). Yields can be up to 550g/m2 indoors and 550g per plant outdoors. Tangie is a pretty strain, with its frosty trichomes contrasting nicely with its fiery pistils (and, of course, the green nugs). Just remember, the citrus smell can easily become overpowering unless you use good odour control!
In terms of taste and aroma, Tangie has much more in common with California Orange than with Skunk No.1. Although the Skunk is very definitely there as an undertone. Having said that, the Skunk genetics probably contribute significantly to the fact that Tangie is very robust, with good resilience to mould, diseases and pests. Absolute beginners might want to start with an autoflowering strain.
