king-kong-marijuana-strainIndica dominant (80/20) King Kong has no direct connection to any of the strains with “Gorilla” in their names.  It’s a cross between Ed Rosenthal Super Bud and Chronic.  When compared with the “Gorilla” strains, King Kong is a whole lot more moderate on the THC and even more generous with its yields.

King Kong has a THC range of between 14% and 20%.  The actual THC level will depend partly on the genetics of your particular seeds and partly on how long you allow your plants to mature.  In any case, King Kong sits at the upper end of medium strength and is potent enough to offer fast and effective relief for both physical pain and negative emotional states.  As this is an Indica high, rather than a Sativa one, you can expect happy, mellow peacefulness rather than energetic euphoria.  You can also expect to transition smoothly into a deep and very comfortable body stone.

This strain will grow both indoors and outdoors in a warm, sunny and dry climate.  If you have the option to grow outdoors, then it’s certainly worth considering as you will be able to let King Kong grow as tall as it wants and thereby claim the biggest yields.  Indoors, this strain will probably stay slightly below the two metre mark on its own (1.8M would be a reasonable expectation) and will deliver up to 850g/m2 after about 7 to 8 weeks of flowering.  Outdoors, King Kong can go over the 2 metre mark but probably not by much (2.2M is likely to be its limit unless conditions are extremely good), and can deliver about 1KG of bud per plant in late September or early October.

It’s usually preferable to have some marijuana-growing experience before growing a strain like King Kong, at least indoors, as you will not only have to manage light cycles but also manage tall plants and deal with plant training.  That aside, however, King Kong is a robust and vigorous strain and as long as you remember your marijuana basics, particularly ventilation and odour control, you should have very little to worry about.

The taste of your harvest will combine fresh, herbal top notes with a body of sweet wood and a pungent, skunk base.  This pungency definitely makes its presence felt in the aroma, but it’s balanced by the sweetness of earth and the warmth of spices.
