Chronic

A Sativa and Indica hybrid, Chronic weed was one of the earlier skunk-type weeds that were refined through crossbreeding by the clever horticulturists in Amsterdam. Chronic is a blend of genetic material from Northern Lights and AK47, both highly respected Cannabis Cup winners in the 1990s. Chronic itself took third prize in the Hydro section of the 1994 Cannabis Cup.

It doesn’t have the most powerful of smells or flavours – expect a subtly fragrant floral aroma with spicy tones, and a similar taste. The high starts off with an almost instantaneous heavy hit that becomes more relaxing and buzzy as its longlasting effects develop. Chronic marijuana is good for pain relief, relaxation and appetite stimulation.

Chronic seeds grow to medium height and feature narrow, pale green leaves that grow in a fanlike formation and large, spongy buds with high resin content. THC content comes in at 15 percent and higher.

Indoors, this weed grows well in a hydro set-up with a flowering time of eight to nine weeks and impressive yields as high as 600 grams per square metre. Pruning this plant to encourage extra bud growth is not recommended. It does best if left to produce buds in its own way.

Planted outdoors in mid- to late-Spring in a sunny climate, the plant should be ready for harvest from the middle to the end of October.
