MK Ultra
Review
The Indica-dominant MK Ultra strain is a cross between the OG Kush and G-13 strains, two very potent modern hybrids. MK Ultra was the name of a series of secret experiments in mental manipulation by the CIA in the 1950s and 60s that included dosing unknowing subjects with LSD. It has a strong reputation as a powerful weed for connoisseurs, winning the Indica section of the 2003 High Times Cup and came second in the same category in 2004.
MK Ultra weed has an earthy, musty smell before you light it up. When lit, the flavor has notes of lemon, spices and pepper. It’s a quick acting smoke giving an initial euphoric rush that mellows into a heavy body stone that can lead to couchlock. Novice smokers should approach this weed with caution. In medical use, it’s recommended for insomnia, nausea and poor appetite.
MK Ultra seeds produce plants that grow to between 100 and 120 centimetres in height and have bright green foliage. The leaves have elongated fingers and the buds are heavy, sticky with resin and covered in orange to brown hairs. THC content can run as high as 22 percent.
The MK Ultra strain grows well indoors in both hydro or soil set-ups, especially if you cultivate it with the SOG method. Flowering time is seven to eight weeks and yields are around 350 grams per square metre.
Plants thrive outdoors in a Mediterranean climate. In the right conditions each plant will produce about 150 grams with harvest coming in late September or early October.
Seasoned smokers give high marks to the MK Ultra strain for its potency and flavor. It’s quite easy to grow with a decent indoor set-up or outdoors if you live somewhere warm enough.
