Indica dominant Wedding Gelato is a three-way cross between Wedding Cake, Gelato and Gelato 33, which effectively means it’s a new variation on one of the most popular strains in cannabis, namely Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies.
Even though Wedding Gelato is 60% Indica dominant, it has a hefty 25% average THC and low CBD. This means that the effect is actually much more like what you’d expect from a quality Sativa. The main benefit of this strain is that you get a really, uplifting, motivational, euphoric high which just blasts away both crippling physical pain and negative mental states.
This then mellows into a very light body buzz, which will leave you superbly relaxed and in a very pleasant daydream but it’s unlikely that you’ll feel sleepy, let alone couchlocked. That said, the pleasant, chilled sensation can last for quite a while, so you’ll need to allow plenty of time for it to wear off completely. Overall, therefore, Wedding Gelato is really a strain for daytime use and, of course, you’ll need to make sure you’re fully refocussed before doing anything complicated, like driving.
The indoor flowering time is 8 to 9 weeks and the outdoor harvest period is early October. Indoors, Wedding Gelato has a height range of between 0.6M and 1M and can yield up to 500g/m2. Outdoors, it has a height range of between 1.3M and 2M and can yield up to 400g per plant.
We’ve classed Wedding Gelato as being of medium difficulty because it’s a photoperiod strain, which means that if you’re growing indoors, you’re going to need to manage light cycles. If you’re growing outdoors, then you’re going to need to take great care to pick a very sheltered growing site. Alternatively, you could use a greenhouse, but if you do, then make sure that you allow plenty of space per container so that your plants can spread outwards as well as upwards without the air flow being compromised. That’s really about the only challenge with this strain. For the most part, it’s very robust and unfussy with good resistance to mould, diseases and pests.
The flavour and aroma of Wedding Gelato is a bit like a creamy vanilla custard brightened up with a dash of lemon and mint. There is a solid, earthy base to add a bit of depth, however, overall this is definitely a strain for people with a sweet tooth.
